The very first sail on SpeedDream was in Thomaston, Maine on a rainy, cold, dreary day. But no one was feeling the cold - it was thrilling to finally be out saiing.

Extensive CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis was done of the SpeedDream prototype before the boat was ready to be built. But, as you will see, computers sometimes have their own minds.

The SpeedDream Test Pilots take to the ice in Maine to get a feel for 30 knots of speed on a tiny boat. They got what they came for... and more.

For five days in May SpeedDream27 was put through its paces in Newport, Rhode Island. Skipper Cam Lewis and a number of different crew tested the boat in a variety of conditions.

The second week of sail trials was in Rhode Island. First Bristol and then Newport with a number of different sailors including some top laser and moth sailors. All agreed that the boat was amazing.

We took the mxNext to Marblehead, Massachusetts for the initial sail trials. The weather was good, light winds and the boat was a rocketship.

mxNext nearing completion. Boat has been baked, hull and deck joined. All it needs is some clear coat over the carbon and some pain to accentuate the lines.

mxNext, the next generation of the revolutionary mx-Ray is under construction.  Here are a few images of the molds being made. Next comes the carbon. First boat ready in Spring 2013.

Getting ready to take SpeedDream27 sailing in Rockland, Maine. Transporting the boat on a custom trailer and attaching the keel before splashing and rigging the boat.

The very first sail of SpeedDream27 was on a soaking wet dreary day in Maine, but oh so thrilling when the keel flew just as designed.

With the dry-sailing testing complete SpeedDream27 heads to the water for christening and the first of a series of in-the-water tests.

Clear coat carbon topsides makes for a perfect reflective surface. Enjoy these images taken while the boat was at the Maine Home, Boats and Harbors show.
